I read about your last post about your mother having a hard time. I hope she is slowly improving and how lovely that she has such a support system to keep her focused on her diet and such.
You are just a wonderful family. I so wish more families loved and cared for one another in this way.
I am so sorry about your mother's recent diabetes diagnosis. Yes the hawker food courts are the best in Singapore. That will be a big adjustment for your parents to give that up, or most of the time! It is too bad your sister can't help more with your mom, but she does sound experienced in diabetic care with her mother in law. Happy Ramadan to you and your family.
Rhiannon | We are fortunate to be closely-knitted and like you said, we are able to give a good support system to our parents.
That makes me a little worried in the future. Though we really hope that Sonny will emulate our good practices, being the only child, he may have a bigger burden on his shoulders when Wifey and I are old and frail one day.
He may have to shoulder most of it alone... may not be the financial cost of it because we have planned our best to be self-sufficient in our retirement years, but the emotional strength he needs to draw from for us.
Mim | We are all learning a little more from both Mom and Sis on taking care of diabetics. The most important for Mom is the kinds of food she takes in.
It will either become worse if not managed properly or it will at least give her a better quality of life in her twilight years.
Both Mom and Dad are adjusting to the now blander kinds of what Malay food should taste like, but they are willing because they see we are trying our hardest to make them feel as comfortable and as normal a life it can be for them for the years to come, hopefully.
Many blessings during Ramadan
